DESCRIPTION:Fundraising target: £150 \nEntry: £10 to include t-shirt \n  \n\n  \nRegister now \n  \nAbout Dear Malawi\nDear Malawi is our exciting new fundraising challenge event.  No one who has ever been to Malawi will ever forget the beauty of Lake Malawi so\, we are are asking our supporters to invite your friends\, family and work colleagues to sponsor you while you virtually swim\, run\, walk\, cycle or even paddleboard your way across\, in or along this beautiful lake. For those of you who have not been\, we hope this event will inspire you to visit as soon as that is possible\, and fingers crossed next year we can do the event in Malawi! \n52 miles across and 365 mile long – choose your distance and your favourite way to cross Lake Malawi\, or more fondly known as The Calendar Lake (can you guess why!). Take on the challenge during October with friends and family and make sure you tag is along the way at #DearMalawi. \nThere are three challenge options to choose from so there is something for everyone\, and all money raised will help to improve access to education for children across Malawi! \n1. IN THE LAKE\nTake on a water sport of your choice and make your way up or across our favourite lake. \n  \n2. ACROSS THE LAKE\n52 miles at its widest point\, this is the perfect challenge event for younger supporters or for those that want to add some oomph to their daily steps. \nWalk\, cycle\, run or paddle – you decide! \n  \n3. ALONG THE LAKE\nTake on the full length of Lake Malawi – 365 miles. Join as an individual or get together in a team.\nRun\, walk\, cycle your way along the lake. \n  \nYou simply need to log your miles. \nAll the money raised through Dear Malawi will help us improve access to education in the communities of Malawi.\nRegister Now \nHow to take part:\n\nSign up for your choice of distance / event and create a personalised fundraising page\nLet us know your T-shirt size and we will post that out straight away\nPlan your training and activity. Work out how you plan to tackle your chosen distance\, whether it is as an individual or with a group of friends. Getting into a routine will help you achieve your targets\nShare your progress with friends and family and make sure to send them your fundraising page\nEncourage others to take on the lake with you\nTag us at #DearMalawi and keep us updated with your progress\n\n \nFAQs\nHow much sponsorship do I need to raise?\nWe ask all participants to raise at least £150. We will send you our FUNdraising tips guide and remember I am here to help you every step of the way and you can contact me via email at laura.macmillan@classroomsformalawi.org. \nHow do I pay in sponsorship?\nWhen fundraising online all monies raised automatically come directly to us. If you are raising money offline you can pay money directly to us by cheque or bank transfer – contact us for details. \nHow do I log my distance and keep track of my miles?\nDownload an app like Strava to track your activity. If you use Strava\, you can link this directly to your fundraising page and keep your sponsors up to date with your progress. You will also be able to see the progress of fellow participants and keep each other motivated. \nIf you don’t use Strava you can still log your distance using a manual feature on your fundraising page. As with Strava\, this helps to track your progress and keep your sponsors up to date with how you’re getting on! \nHowever you track your challenge\, make sure to share your progress with your friends and family and encourage them to take part too. \nHow can I link up with other participants?\nYou can follow us on #DearMalawi or join our #DearMalawi Strava Group to meet fellow participants www.strava.com/clubs/DearMalawi \nWhat do I get for taking part?\nYou will be sent a Classrooms for Malawi fundraising t-shirt as soon as your register\, please be sure to ask your family and friends to take plenty of pictures of you taking part\, and tag us on Facebook and Twitter\, and use #DearMalawi. \nI need help fundraising\, can you give me some ideas?\nYes of course\, we are full of bright ideas and inspiration. Under-18’s can take part\, however we ask that they are registered alongside a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian must approve the terms and conditions. \nWhy Dear Malawi?\nLike all of you we have missed our friends\, colleagues and partners in Malawi and we cant wait to be back in Malawi once again. Until then\, we want to remember the amazing country and people of Malawi and look forward to being able to visit the shores of Lake Malawi soon. Our work in Malawi hasn’t stopped over the past 18 months\, we are still working in partnership with local communities to enable children to attend school and we have a full programme of activities planned for 2022.
